What the error means
The full message appears when the Native Instruments webshop cannot finish an order. A buyer trying to get Komplete Ultimate 26 posted it in the NI community in July 2026:
We encountered a problem while finalizing your order. First, please check your orders to see if the order was successfully created. If not, try again using a different payment method, or empty your cart and add the products again. If the problem persists, please contact our customer service team.
Details: Payment method error; please select a different payment method.
The message has two layers. The first part is generic: the shop could not finish the order, and the instructions (check your orders, try another payment method, empty the cart) cover several kinds of failure. The “Details” line is the specific one: the payment itself was refused. A community regular read it the same way in that thread: “judging by the message - the problem is your payment method - not your browser.”
Card payments in the NI shop go through Stripe. NI's support article on refused payments says: “In case our payment provider Stripe refuses to accept your payment, there is nothing we can do manually in order to validate your payment.” A support ticket will not push the same payment through; change the order details, the card or the payment method instead.
The buyer in that thread said his Visa card worked on other plugin stores, so a card that works elsewhere can still be refused here.
Check your orders before you pay again
Do what the message asks first: check whether the order was created. NI's article “What is the status of my order?” says the Order History in your NI account lists each order with its reference number, date and status. The statuses that matter after this error:
- Order created: the order went through, and an order confirmation email follows.
- Under review: for card payments, an Order Support Agent sometimes checks the authorization manually for security reasons. NI says that in rare cases the agent will ask you for more information.
- Shipped: for a download, the serial number and download link are in your account under My Products and Serials.
- Cancelled: the order was cancelled.
A charge without a finished order also happens. In a January 2025 community thread, a buyer's card was charged for a Komplete update while the checkout page never refreshed, and his order history showed the order as “Pending Payment”; the case went to NI support through a ticket. If you see a charge but no completed order, take screenshots of the statement and your order history and contact NI support before you place a second order.
Fixes to try first
- Check the name and billing address. NI's refused-payment article asks you to confirm that “the card holder's name is entered correctly in the order form” and that “the billing address data is matching the data on the card”. Use the name as printed on the card and the address your bank has on file, including the postal code.
- Make sure 3-D Secure works on your card. NI asks that you have set a 3-D Secure code for your Visa or Mastercard, and its shop FAQ says card payments are verified through the 3D Secure procedure. If your bank asks you to confirm the payment in its app or by text, do it during checkout. If you have never used 3-D Secure, ask your bank to turn it on.
- Turn off proxies. NI lists “You are not using any proxy services” as one of its conditions. Connect directly, with no proxy or VPN in between.
- Reset the browser side. NI's checkout-problems article suggests temporarily turning off any ad or pop-up blocker, deleting cookies and emptying the cache, and trying a different browser or a different computer. In the July thread, a community member suggested a fresh browser with no extensions and all cookies accepted.
- Empty the cart and add the products again. The error message itself asks for this. It starts a new order instead of retrying the failed one.
- Switch payment method. NI's refused-payment article suggests PayPal if card payments still fail. The shop FAQ also lists credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club International), several debit cards, iDEAL and, in listed countries, Klarna. NI says the methods available to you appear once you enter your full address at checkout.
- Contact NI support, or buy from a dealer. If nothing works, open a ticket at support.native-instruments.com with the time of the attempt and a screenshot. A community regular notes that NI first sends an automatic reply, and you need to answer it to keep the ticket open. You can also buy Komplete from a dealer, which takes payment through its own checkout; NI says a serial number bought from a third-party retailer usually arrives by email and is activated in Native Access.
Buy Komplete with crypto through Unboxkey
If the NI webshop keeps refusing your payment, we can buy Komplete for you. You pay us in crypto (the coins and networks are on how to pay), we buy a new Komplete 26 license from a Native Instruments dealer, and we email you the serial number. You add it in Native Access with your own NI account, so the license is registered to you. In some cases we send a License Transfer ID instead, which you import into your account. The full process is on how it works.
NI says a serial, once registered to an account, cannot be registered to another, so redeem it on the account you plan to keep. We sell the full Komplete 26 bundles (Standard, Ultimate and Collector's Edition), not updates or upgrades. The card below shows Ultimate, the bundle from the July thread.
Komplete 26 Ultimate
$1,311.45total, fee included
- New serial number by email, registered in Native Access to your own account
- Typically within 2 hours of payment confirmation (09:00–21:00 UTC), at most 24 hours
If we can't buy your license, we refund the full amount you paid, in the same coin, with no deductions.
FAQ
What does “Payment method error; please select a different payment method” mean?
The Native Instruments webshop could not finish your order because the payment was refused. NI's card payments go through Stripe, and NI says it cannot validate a refused payment manually, so the fix is to correct your details or use a different payment method.
Was my order created even though I saw the error?
Check before you pay again. Open Order History in your NI account: if the order shows as Order created, Under review or Shipped, it exists and you should not place a second one.
Can NI support approve the payment for me?
No. NI's support article says that when its payment provider Stripe refuses a payment, there is nothing NI can do manually to validate it. Support can still help with order status and with charges that did not turn into an order.
Which payment methods does the NI webshop accept?
NI's shop FAQ lists credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Diners Club International), several debit cards, iDEAL, PayPal, and Klarna in listed countries. The checkout shows the methods available for your address once you enter it in full.
Can I use a Komplete serial number bought from a dealer?
Yes. NI says a serial number bought from a third-party retailer usually arrives by email and is activated in Native Access. Once registered to an NI account, a serial cannot be registered to another account.
