What Navicat accepts

Navicat's sales FAQ says that over 95% of customers order through its online shop "using major Credit Cards - MasterCard, Visa, Euro card, JCB and American Express". The card payment itself runs through PayPal or Braintree. A few details from Navicat's help centre that save a failed attempt:

  • American Express: choose "PayPal Check Out" at checkout, then the "Pay with Debit or Credit Card" option.
  • Apple Pay: offered in Safari, under the licensee's information on the order form.
  • Card refused by Braintree: Navicat recommends trying PayPal instead.
  • Subscriptions: monthly and yearly plans are paid online only, by card through PayPal or Braintree.

Perpetual licenses have two more routes. Navicat accepts bank or wire transfer and purchase orders: you email the sales team with the registration name (the person the product is licensed to), the technical contact (who receives the key) and the product name, and a sales representative replies with an invoice that carries the bank details. The key is delivered once Navicat has received the payment. Navicat also sells through resellers, which its Partner Directory lists by country or region. Navicat's payment-options page for Navicat Cloud names the same three channels: card through PayPal or Braintree, bank or wire transfer, and resellers.

None of Navicat's payment articles that we read mentions cryptocurrency, and neither does the Navicat Premium store page.

Routes to try first

These cost nothing on top of Navicat's own price. Try them before you pay anyone a service fee.

  1. Switch to PayPal if Braintree declines your card. Navicat itself suggests it. PayPal's checkout also takes a debit or credit card, which is the route Navicat gives for American Express.
  2. Ask Navicat for a wire transfer invoice. Write to the sales team through navicat.com/support/submit-ticket with your registered email, your name and the product name. For a company that pays suppliers by bank transfer anyway, this is often the simplest fix.
  3. Find a reseller in your country. The Partner Directory filters partners by type and by country or region. Each reseller runs its own checkout, so ask which payment methods it takes before you order. If the license arrives registered under the reseller's details, Navicat support changes the registration email to yours when you send the reseller's name, the purchase date, the order number, your name and your email.
  4. Check whether a free or cheaper edition covers your work. The unregistered version runs for 14 days for evaluation. Navicat Premium Lite is free, has the core features for basic database work and "can be used for both commercial and non-commercial purposes", with up to 5 complimentary accounts per organization. Individuals who will not use Navicat commercially, and schools, colleges, universities, libraries, museums, research institutes, churches and charities, can buy the Non-Commercial license, which Navicat says costs less and has the same functionality.
Skip keys that Navicat or its partners did not sell Shared keys, "activators" and keys priced far below Navicat's store are not licenses sold to you. Navicat's EULA forbids selling or transferring Trial, Lite and Not For Resale versions, so a cheap NFR key cannot become yours.

What a perpetual license includes

Navicat Premium is sold as a perpetual license or as a subscription. According to Navicat's help centre and store:

  • Perpetual: you get a license key and can use the version you bought forever, with its minor updates (17.1, 17.2 and so on). A new major version needs a software maintenance plan or an upgrade license.
  • Maintenance: every new perpetual license includes 1 year of maintenance from the purchase date, covering "software upgrades, live chat, technical support and key reset requests". One or two extra years cost 16% or 24% of the license price when added at purchase.
  • Standard or Enterprise: Navicat says the main difference is that Enterprise includes the Data Modeling Tools and Business Intelligence (BI).
  • Platforms: one key works on Windows, macOS or Linux. To switch, you deactivate the key, uninstall, then install and activate Navicat on the other system.
  • Seats: each license is per user and for a single desktop, plus one portable or home computer that is not used at the same time.
  • Subscription: you sign in to Navicat with your own email and get the latest version while you keep paying.

For anyone buying through a third party, the EULA is the part that matters. Section 3(d) of Navicat's end user license agreement lets an owner "permanently transfer all of your rights under this EULA only as part of a sale or transfer", provided the seller retains no copies, hands over everything including the serial numbers, and the recipient agrees to the EULA. That clause is the basis for the route below. It is also why we offer only perpetual licenses: a subscription is tied to the buyer's own login.

Buy it with crypto through Unboxkey

Unboxkey is an independent service, not affiliated with Navicat. If the routes above don't suit you and you prefer to pay in crypto, we buy a new perpetual Navicat Premium license and pass it to you.

  1. Choose Standard or Enterprise on our Navicat Premium page and enter the email address for the key.
  2. Pay the total in USDT, USDC, BTC, ETH or another listed coin. How to pay lists every coin and network.
  3. Once your payment is confirmed on the blockchain, we buy the license from Navicat's online store or a Navicat reseller.
  4. We email you the license key. We never install or activate it. We ask Navicat support to change the registered name and email to yours, the same change Navicat makes for licenses bought through a reseller, and you accept Navicat's EULA when the license passes to you.

The total is the license price plus our 5% fee, shown as one number. If you can pay Navicat by card or wire transfer, buying direct costs less. How it works covers each step of an order.

FAQ

Does Navicat accept cryptocurrency?

We found no crypto option. Navicat's help centre lists credit cards through PayPal or Braintree, Apple Pay in Safari, bank or wire transfer against an invoice, purchase orders and resellers, and none of these articles mentions cryptocurrency.

Can I buy Navicat Premium without a credit card?

Yes, by bank or wire transfer. Email Navicat's sales team with the registration name, the technical contact who should receive the key and the product name. A sales representative replies with an invoice that has the bank details, and Navicat delivers the key once it receives the payment.

Does Navicat's license allow a transfer to a new owner?

Yes, for a full license. Section 3(d) of Navicat's EULA allows a permanent transfer of all rights as part of a sale or transfer, if the previous owner keeps no copies and the recipient agrees to the EULA. Trial, Lite and Not For Resale versions cannot be transferred.

Can I use one Navicat Premium license on Windows and macOS?

Yes. The key works on Windows, macOS or Linux, on one primary computer at a time. Navicat allows a second installation on one portable or home computer that is not used at the same time, and asks you to deactivate the key before you uninstall Navicat or switch platforms.

What happens if you can't buy the license?

If we can't buy your license, we refund the full amount you paid, in the same coin, with no deductions.
